Most umbrellas are made to be thrown away
You buy one in a hurry, it lasts a season, a gust turns it inside out and it ends up in a bin. We thought a thing you rely on in bad weather ought to be better than that.
OMBRELLAS began with a simple decision: make one umbrella, and make it properly. No novelty prints, no flimsy frames, no cutting corners where it does not show. A ten-rib fibreglass frame that flexes in the wind rather than snapping. A tightly woven, water-repellent canopy that sheds rain and dries quickly. A one-click automatic mechanism that works with your hands full.
And then we paid attention to the part most brands ignore — how it arrives. Every umbrella is presented in a printed kraft gift box with a protective sleeve, because something you are proud to own should look like it from the moment you unwrap it.
That is also why so many of ours are bought as gifts, and why retailers like stocking them: they look considered on a shelf without any extra work.

Three things, done well
It has to work. Water repellent, windproof, automatic. If it fails on a wet Tuesday, nothing else matters.
It has to last. Reinforced ribs and quality fabric, so one purchase covers several years rather than several seasons.
It has to feel good. Matte finish, clean lines, proper packaging. An everyday object can still be a pleasant one.
